Me without You

There is drought in my heart,

a landscape of nothingness,

surrounded by the empathy of lost.

That’s how the desert misses the rain.

That’s how I miss you

pulling and pushing

the wave of emotions out of me.

I am happiness without a smile;

sleep without dreams,

and a bed without covers.

I am an incomplete version:

me without you.

And, yet I am everything

because of the distance,

because of the allowance,

and the acceptance in you

to let me be myself.

So the emptiness and hollowness

is overshadowed –

for now.

You are the better part of me

that reminds and recalls

us in love.

And, when I hear your voice

the rain falls on the desert,

a smile engulfs happiness,

fairy tale dreams act out in sleep,

and the bed is once again

covered by your warmth.
