The Big Dipper

The night swallowed us whole

under a canopy of stars.

I am spent with joy —

a secret bliss of surrealism.

Something inside moved

the fears to another place

and I find you staring

into the depth of me.

I am not afraid to look away.

You are a safety net

catching the falling stars

from my galaxy.

You have become the

sounds of the night

comforting me

to lay without fighting sleep.

You have allowed

my truth to extend

without being scrutinized.

This is who I am

under the Milky Way of you.
