Life feels sweet

and smells

like clean linens

out from the heat

draped over

the newly made bed

waiting to be

and tucked away.

The scent of purity

throughout the house

as the simple act

of doing laundry

brings comfort,

and contentment

to the last moment

everything is back

in its place

and love folds over

each drawer.

~Note:  I don’t know if anyone else has a love for laundry the way I do.  I am thankful we have a retreat center because there’s always laundry to be done.  There’s something meditative about washing and folding and putting things away that feels very spiritual in nature.  There’s joy in that simplicity.

  1. A fellow laundry lover 🙂 I love looking out the window at a line full of clothes drying in the dunk whisked by the breeze – and don’t get me started on the feel if freshly washed, sun dried sheets 🙂 I’ll have to write my own poem!

  2. I love the smell of laundry, but moreso the smell of sheets dried on the line. I close my eyes, and I am a little girl running between rows of yellow roses and purple blossoms…… It is home, and I am blooming……..
