I have often felt that the primary task of being a parent to a struggling adult child is to be as a lighthouse, a beacon, unwavering, always in the same place should one look up from the storm-tossed sea of addiction, emotional distress, diminished confidence, or spiritual doldrums.
Whether or not that light guides one home is a manifestation of God’s grace. We are simply called to be present to one another.
